12 December 2014, Dubai - Jay Price celebrated his birthday in style today by claiming top honours in the Dubai Duty Free Speed Cat run at DIMC. Racing alongside Salem Al Adidi in boat number 7, Dubai, the pair made up for a disappointing morning session in the race for Emaar Pole Position at the Emirates Airline XCAT GP by speeding ahead of all opposition in this afternoon’s knock-out race. The UAE-American combination initially saw off a first-round challenge from Fujairah Racing Team (Roberto Lo Piano and Andrea Comello) before getting the better of Yachts (Francois Pinelli and Saul Bubacco) in the second. They then overcame the Qatar Team (Mohammed Al Nasser and Abdulrahman Al Nasr) in the semi-final before facing a final showdown with T-Bone Station (Luca Fendi and Giovanni Carpitella), coming away with a fairly comfortably win in the end. T-Bone Station had reached the final after beating Raheeb (Abdullateef Al Omani and Jassem Saad) in the first round, Lady Spain (Pal Virik Nilsen and Piersimone Volpe) in the second and Mouawad (Joakim Kumlin and Gary Ballough) in the third. Mouawad eventually finished in third spot after beating Qatar Team in the third and fourth place decider. XCAT action continues tomorrow with the main race – the final round of the 2014 UIM Skydive Dubai XCAT Word Series – at 2.30pm. Entrance for the public areas is free of charge and, as always, there is plenty on offer to keep the crowds entertained with exciting activities both on and off the water in between racing, a kids’ fun zone, heritage village and other attractions including the daring Breitling Wingwalkers.
