13 February 2014, Fujairah – The Fendi Racing team of Luca Fendi and Giovanni Carpitella made a dream return to the UIM Skydive Dubai XCAT World Series this afternoon. Racing in boat number 10, T-Bone Station, the duo claimed second spot in the Dubai Duty Free Speed Cat Run in round two of the Series at the Fujairah International Marine Club. They overcame Spirit of Dubai (Rashid Al Marri and Salim Al Hamli) in the first round before getting the better of Raheeb (Abdullateef Al Omani and Jassem Saad) in the second. It then took a victory over the speedy Skydive Dubai pair of Sultan Al Dhaheri and Jay Price to book a spot in the final but Fazza (Arif Al Zaffain and Nadir Bin Hendi) was simply too quick, claiming the ultimate win with relative ease. “To end up in the top three is always a big success so to get this kind of success, I’m very happy,” said Fendi afterwards. “You have to concentrate very hard because as soon as you turn [towards the race course], you have to have the steering in the right position because you never know when the green flag will be raised. So you have to concentrate and push hard and be very coordinated together. It was also windy so it wasn’t so easy so we’re very happy about it.” Asked if they were expecting such immediate success on their return, Fendi reckoned: “At this point, why not? Let’s dream about it. “Of course this gives us confidence. It’s always positive to have success in something,” he added. Fazza were pleased with yet another victory. Their route to the final included a first round win over Team GB after which they defeated Fujairah Racing Team in the second and Qatar Team in the third, before the final showdown with T-Bone Station. The Dubai Duty Free Speed Cat Run could only take place thanks to the conditions smoothing out after a bumpy morning. Strong wind had earlier kept the boats out of the water, with Emaar Pole Position being postponed to tomorrow morning at 9.30am. Organisers deemed the conditions too dangerous to race although praised the efforts of the Dubai Police Rescue team, who together with the WPPA Rescue team, were always on hand to ensure the safety of all drivers. The main race, the Fujairah Grand Prix will take place at 3pm tomorrow and entry at the Fujairah International Marine Club is free of charge.
