The UIM Extreme Catamaran World Powerboat Championships, titled ‘XCAT World Series’ have confirmed plans to secure a US round in 2017. This follows the success of the recent Australian round held at the Gold Coast which has seen the TV audience grown to more than 450 million households globally.
“The US market is important for our development so we wish to hold at least one race there in 2017 to complement our spread of races in Europe, Asia and Australia‘’, said CEO Ronan Morgan.
XCAT has invested heavily in marketing this year by recruiting experienced management from Formula 1 motorsport. They have also appointed top UK Sports production firm Sunset+Vine to handle TV production and distribution. Currently the XCAT World Series is telecasted globally by over 30 broadcasters. XCAT also features in Gillette World Sport which boasts a global audience reach of 1.5 billion households.
US drivers Jay Price and Shaun Torrente compete in the series along with top crews from around the world. XCAT also confirmed plans for additional European events in 2016.
