Skydive Dubai powered their way to the fastest time of the morning in Official Practice at the fourth round of the UIM Skydive Dubai XCAT World Series on Lake Maggiore today. Despite being in a boat together for the first time this morning, the pairing of Rashid Al Tayer and Jay Price’s time of 2:39.25 for the 3.55 nautical mile lap proved the quickest of the morning, boosting confidence levels going into this afternoon’s Emaar Pole Position and the Dubai Duty Free Speed Cat Run. The Victory Team boat was second quickest with Salem Al Adidi and Talib Al Sayed recording a time of 2:42.35 while Series leaders Fazza (Arif Al Zaffain and Mohammed Al Marri) were third in 2:44.67, completing a top three for the Victory Team outfit. Speaking after practice, Skydive Dubai’s Price said: “It felt really good. It’s quite a fun course. There are quite a lot of turns and you really have to set the boat deep and accelerate out of it, but with my new driver we’ve got a good handle on the boat and we’re looking good for this weekend. “It’s not rough at all like Dubai but it’s a different type of dangerous driving because now you have to carry the speed all the way to the turn whereas in Dubai you didn’t carry the speed all the way because of the rough water so now the speed is much, much faster so it makes it more dangerous for the turn.” As for where Skydive Dubai’s main competition is likely to come from, Price reckoned: “I hope I don’t look out for anybody. I hope they’re all looking out for us.” The Emaar Pole Position will take place at 2.30pm (Italian time) followed by the Dubai Duty Free Speed Cat Run at 5pm.
