18 January 2013, Dubai – The speed and excitement of XCAT action resumes with the first round of the 2014 UIM Skydive Dubai XCAT World Powerboat Series in Dubai this weekend. The 15 teams will return to Dubai International Marine Club (DIMC) – Mina Seyahi for the season opener from January 23-25. It was at the same venue that the Fazza duo of Nadir Bin Hendi and Arif Al Zaffain powered their way to victory in the final race of the 2013 season last month. With that the pair also took the overall Series title and have their sights set on another dominant performance over the weekend. Once again there will be plenty of activities on offer for the whole family, with a dedicated kids zone, food and beverage on sale and breathtaking Flyboard and Skydive Dubai exhibitions on offer in between the racing. The race for EMAAR pole position will take place at 9.45am on Friday, January 24 while the head-to-head Dubai Duty Free Speed Cat Run will be contested at 3pm that same day. The main race, the Dubai Grand Prix, will take place at 3.30pm on Saturday, 24 January. Entrance is free to the general public. “Last year was a great one in terms of the development and expansion of the UIM Skydive Dubai XCAT World Series and we are looking forward to another ground-breaking year for the Series in 2014,” said Sid Bensalah, Secretary General of the WPPA – organisers and promoters of the Series. “We are kicking things off with the opening round in Dubai and will then move to Fujairah in a few weeks’ time, before the action heads overseas once again with several exciting venues planned for the remainder of the year,” added Bensalah. “The teams, officials and organisers are all looking forward to a fantastic year ahead where spectators around the world are in for something really special.” For more information on the Series, log on to www.xcatracing.com and follow XCATracing on Facebook and Twitter.
